We are a safe organization
In our organization, we are committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all our youth participants.
Preventive measures
Our club’s rules have been created to match the Olympic Committee’s model for regulating organizations. We interview those who work with children and young people, and check their background.
An adult who works with children and young people in our club commits to common rules, with the focus on ensuring the well-being of children and young people. You can read here the association’s rules for volunteers working with children and young people (Link to the rules). Children and young people who participate in activities also commit to common rules, they can participate in the creation of these rules in their groups/teams.
Our organization has operating instructions in case of inappropriate behavior. Every case is dealt with and all suspected crimes are reported to the police without delay. Our society’s responsible person in matters concerning the welfare of children and young people is Lea Urpa, Chair of the board.
We maintain an open atmosphere in our organization and present topics important to the safety of children and young people. We distribute material produced by the You are not alone project to both our youth participants and their parents.
Let us know if you encounter inappropriate behavior in our organization - we take it seriously
The Science Basement does not accept any kind of inappropriate behavior in our youth activities.
We hope that you will inform us immediately if you encounter inappropriate behavior in the activities of our organization. We listen and take every concern seriously. When dealing with each concern or complaint, we focus on the well-being of children and young people. We handle all complaints in accordance with a predetermined process and consult all parties before deciding on further action.
